(the rules .)
general rules rating » The Chain Reaction is based off of a series that from the beginning was graphic in deaths, and in the end we find how the characters reacted to adult situations. Thus forth, The Chain Reaction is rated PG16-R, as to uphold those standard set by the books. It is not advisable to join if you are under the age of sixteen or if you can not bare such images, we will not be held for such traumitazations as we have warnings all over the site. If you are under the age of thirteen. no matter what, we ask you to turn away as if you join it is against proboards guidelines. While we are rated PG16-R, we do request that highly graphic sex and murder scene please have a warning label as not to surprise any other members that come across it. However, if an admin finds something too graphic you will be asked to change it. While our rating is up, racism will not be tolerated.
activity » We know we all have lives, even admins do, but if you apply for a character- canon especially-- we are going to have to request you post as them once every two weeks. (if you have multiple characters, this goes for all) If you can not, for whatever reason, uphold this request send a noted to the main admin or post in the absence board. This is just so we don't have a million inactive characters floating around.
graphics » Just so we don't have the board stretched out to a thousand places, we're putting a limit on the size. If you have a basic banner signature, it must be no bigger than: 500 width and 250 height. However, there has been the new fad of having two long images for a signature. thus we'll say this for those ones : 200 width, and 300 height. for the text part 60 height, 500 width. Now the split image one, we'll not be so strict on unless it is humongous. If posting an image on the board, if it stretches the board, make it into a link or clickable thumbnail!
character creation posting an application » Please make sure that the application is completely finished before you put it up. This is just so that the accepting process can go faster and you won't have to wait longer, note that any applications that aren't finished and posted will instantly be denied and put into the rejected applications. This does not mean you can't try for the character, just finish the application before posting it. If you can not save on the computer-- for whatever reason-- send it to yourself in a private message, email, or put it on a flashdrive.
content » Please do not alter the application in any shape or form. It's written like that for a reason, and meant to help you figure out your character. If we find you deleted something, left out something (that's not an obvious mistake like two weaknesses rather then three) in a consistent manner, your application will be denied until you fix it. As said before, if it's an obvious mistake-- like missing one or two things-- we're not going to instantly reject but rather make a note in your application that it should be fixed.
mary-sue/gary-sue » We all wish we were perfect, and often find we want a perfect character to accommodate that. However, as perfection isn't capable by human character, we're going to request you refrain from making a mary-sue character. One such as, no matter how cruel they are to everyone-- every single person trips over them and coos in love (even Berenene's own nobles and commoners turned against her.) Or someone that everyone wants just for looks, this too isn't so possible. Basically, your character needs flaws, that's what makes a character interesting to read. (Berenene saw her downfall) If you are a mage and the powers seem too much of a god than human, again it will cause for the admins to request you change it, seeing as magic is always changing and hard to control--even Trisana, with all the weather powers, still has a lot of trouble. If we read through an application, and no matter if it's the best one yet, if the character reads too perfect it will not be accepted until changed.
revisions » If when you post an application, a staff member requests you make changes, please do so in a timely manner. You will be given two weeks to make any changes to the application we deem necessary. If after the alloted time the application does not appear to be changed, the admin team has right to move it to the rejected applications until such a time you come back and finish it.
name/play-by » The first thing to note, is that duplicated play-by's and character names will not be allowed. Simply because as a role play community, there are several characters, and different plots, and unlike the world we can have trouble distinguishing between who the person is talking about (we do so even in real life!). So thus, names and variations of names will not be allowed to be duplicated. ie: brittany and britney. Play-by's too will not be allowed to be duplicated unless they are twins, triplets etc. Play-by's should also accommodate the character's age. If you're playing a fourteen year old it is unlikely she would look like Megan Fox, after all!
time » Like most sites, we request all revisions be made in a timely manner. The admin team will give a period of two weeks for all changes to be made, and after that the application will be moved to the rejected bin unless you have contacted the admin team as to why you haven't updated. As well as that, while we give no time period for making applications-- as they are to be finished before being posted-- when you make an account, make sure that the application is again up within two weeks or the account will be deleted for thought of ghost-accounts. (even if you logged in!)
posting posting length » At the very least, TCR is an intermediate role playing site. We request that every post have at least 250-350 words. (Two good sized paragraphs.) This is so that everyone has something to work with to reply, if we see a consistent pattern of small posts by an individual that does not meet guideline the admin team will contact such individual requesting they make it. We are not going to be particularly strict about it, unless of course it's consistent, because we do realize there are times where the muse is dead, you don't have time, and various others. Please remember, however, it's just two paragraphs that we ask for!
On that note, we'd prefer the title 'advanced', however, no matter what, we do not take the title because we're all going to write novels, or think ourselves better than a site that is not (as has been many debates in recent times), just that with the theme of the site is better addressed with such a limit as 300-450 words which falls under 'advanced' in most in cases. (but be lucky! XD I don' think that would go over to well)
god-moding » In no way will TCR accommodate god-moding. God-moding is defined as complete control over another character without the other players approval. Of course, if you have permission, please note in the post that the player gave you it, but as such, if we find you have not the admin team will address the person doing so. Godmoding is coming up and beating another character to a pulp and they have no chance to do anything, or even a player attacks you and it makes it every hit. It's impossible for a person not to have some type of reaction to such things and thus that brings us to say god-moding is not allowed.
